Welcome to the rabbit hole

ESSB is the experimentation and pursuit of higher fidelity audio for more enjoyable communication experiences. The west coast essb crew typically hangs out somewhere on 40m, and welcomes all who seek better sound.

The group is friendly, but will give honest feedback on your audio so be prepared to hear from those with critical ears. We typically hang out in the basement (7.141 MHz) but that can change depending on conditions.

And before someone yells, “you’re too wide,” the reality is that the FCC does not impose bandwidth limitations of 2.8k (give or take) for transmit on SSB, and ESSB is done in the spirit of amateur radio experimentation. Some like digital modes, we like good (and sometimes wide) audio.
