Currently from the State of Nevada- I began my Ham Radio venture in 1992, and finally decided to upgrade to General in 2016 after living most of my life above 30mhz in public safety communications, despite obtaining my GROL License in 1998. Right out of high school, I went to work for Motorola and this amazing hobby has also offered me a wonderful career. I am currently occupying the position of State of Nevada Communications Systems Manager with the Div. of Forestry Fire. I have previously worked for Douglas County Public Safety Communications and the F.A.A. ADSB Flight tracking/transponding program. ADSB works a lot like APRS!
I have always been in awe of all the guys on HF with beautiful, warm and articulated audio like broadcast stations typicaly do (AM and SSB guys) and I vowed that if/when I ever decided to get on HF that I would sound like those guys. Fast forward to 2022 I have found these "Punks" that have helped me fall deeper down the money pit of this hobby, I have finally found the Rabbit Hole.
I currently operate Flex 6000 radio equipment, Heil PR-40 studio mic's into an Aphex voice channel mic preamp with compression, downward expander, and Big Bottm harmonic enhancement for the B I G boom boom low end. The Aphex leads into a Behringer 2496 parametric & graphic EQ. Next inline is the TC Electronic Tripple-C multi band compression, then back to the Berhinger 2496 right channel for a final hard limiter that makes the audio really loud and limits clipping right at the edge. Fairly simple setup compared to some folks but proving you dont need a room full of stuff to sound good!
I operate from Fallon, Nevada and Carson City, Nevada and both my stations are virtually identical.
