Quote from KG6NLW on November 19, 2022, 11:36 amHowdy, yall! Frank from Cloverdale, SF Bay here. I'm just currently a tech but hope to upgrade soon enough to general to join the 7199 audio guys! For years I've been "satisfied" as just a tech, and then I heard the guys on 7199 and I decided to jump head first into getting my general.
I run a basic Yaesu FT-450D with no amp into, currently, a part-built 10m vertical antenna about 5 feet off the ground. I can hear 40m and 80m just fine. CW on 40m in the tech CW section transmits just fine.
I'm one of those "commercial" radio guys who run mostly Motorola/Kenwood-Commercial and Harris radios. I run multiple SDR receivers at the QTH, along with several radios to listen to everything possible. No audio racks or anything fancy here, especially due to the simplistic audio of Motorola radios.
I run APRS, DMR, P25, and NXDN. The picture is from the old setup, I have turned the desk another way and reorganized how everything is set up, but it is the same general idea.
Outside of ham radio, I am a railroader and photographer. I mostly focus my photography on the railroad but also do modeling shoots and landscapes as well.
73 for now!
