The Electro-voice RE 20

A popular mic for ESSB are the many offerings from Electro-voice and the RE 20 is definitely a impressive microphone used by many broadcast stations and radio talk shows. The RE 20 is a true cardioid large diaphragm dynamic microphone and is quite impressive in size and frequency response. The mic weighs in at  1lb 10 ounces and is 8.53 inches long and 2.14 inches wide and seems to whisper... come over here and get on the air. The frequency response is extremely flat and ranges from 45hz to 18,000 and the RE 20 has a patented Variable D design to control the microphone’s proximity effect that can come in real handy for all you close talkers. My experience with the RE 20 has been positive and I have found it very easy to EQ with it's flat frequency response. It does require a good pre amp with decent gain to drive the rack.  Be prepared to shell out between $400 to $500 for a new one however cost a fraction of the gold plated one Rush Limbaugh used on his show. Although a bit pricey if you are looking for a really good mic in my humble opinion the RE 20 won't disappoint. That's my 2 cents on the RE 20 and some may say that's all the advice is worth.... Over Over.
