The HHB Classic 70 Parametric tube EQ

Here's the HHB Classic 70 Parametric tube EQ and if your looking for pure silky smooth analog with a natural sound this is the EQ. No digital artifacts and a nice warm sound. This particular unit has been modified by Voodoo Labs changing 45 TL072 Dual op amps to the Analog AD823, electrolytic Panasonic FC series Caps, the Voltage Rectifiers were changed to Hex Fred units and the 6 tubes were changed to RCA Command 5751 new old stock from the 1960's that give the unit that nice low end grunt. The EQ sounds great before the modification however Voodoo Labs takes the unit to a whole new level.

I've been running this EQ in the audio chain for a couple of months now and it has a transparency and clarity that is amazing. Every piece in the rack ( I confess there's quite a bit ) took on a different sound and has more definition.

It takes a bit of work to get the frequencies set up as there's no digital readout only knobs with reference numbers on the panel. The trick here to set the 8 bands of parametric frequencies by running pink noise through the rack and turning up the gain on each band narrowing up the Q while turning the frequency knob and watching the peak on a audio program like Spectrum Lab.

The HHB Classic 70 is a 2 channel 4 band parametric EQ and to get 8 bands of EQ is to run channel 1 into channel 2. The EQ also has two low cut adjustable settings and two high cut settings along with 4 shelving filters. Additionally each of the 8 EQ bands have a on and off button if you wish to disengage that particular band. On each channel you can adjust the amount of tube effect emanating from those vintage RCA Command tubes for even more fun.

The HHB Classic 70 is a bit hard to find however if you see one come up I highly recommend pulling the trigger as you wont be disappointed what it brings to the ESSB table.

73 and keep twisting those knobs...
